KEBERHASILAN OLEH KEPERCAYAAN YANG SEPENUHNYA KEPADA ALLAH

“… Tangan Allah kami melindungi semua orang yang mencari Dia demi keselamatan mereka, tetapi kuasa murka-Nya menimpa semua orang yang meninggalkan Dia.” Ezra 8:22.

“Ezra dan teman-temannya telah bertekad untuk takut dan menaati Allah, dan menaruh kepercayaan mereka sepenuhnya kepada-Nya. Mereka tidak akan menjalin hubungan dengan dunia untuk mendapatkan bantuan atau persahabatan dari musuh-musuh Allah. Baik mereka bersama banyak orang atau sedikit orang, mereka tahu bahwa keberhasilan hanya dapat datang dari Allah. Dan mereka tidak ingin keberhasilan mereka dikaitkan dengan kekayaan atau pengaruh orang-orang jahat. Ezra memilih untuk menanggung risiko mempercayakan tujuannya kepada Allah. Ia tahu betul bahwa jika mereka gagal dalam pekerjaan penting mereka, itu karena mereka tidak mematuhi persyaratan Allah dan karena itu Ia tidak dapat menolong mereka.” RH 8 Januari 1884, par. 3.

“Keyakinan Ezra bahwa Allah akan melakukan pekerjaan yang luar biasa bagi umat-Nya, menuntunnya untuk memberi tahu Artahsasta tentang keinginannya untuk kembali ke Yerusalem guna membangkitkan kembali minat dalam mempelajari firman Allah dan membantu saudara-saudaranya dalam memulihkan kota suci itu. Ketika Ezra menyatakan kepercayaannya yang sempurna kepada Allah Israel sebagai sosok yang sangat mampu melindungi dan memelihara umat-Nya, raja pun menjadi sangat terkesan…. Ia mengangkatnya sebagai wakil khusus kerajaan Media-Persia, dan menganugerahkan kepadanya kekuasaan yang luas untuk melaksanakan maksud-maksud yang ada dalam hatinya….”

“Dalam hal ini, Ezra dan rekan-rekannya melihat kesempatan untuk mengagungkan nama Allah di hadapan orang-orang kafir. Iman kepada kuasa Allah yang hidup akan diperkuat jika saja orang Israel mau menyatakan iman yang nyata kepada Pemimpin ilahi mereka. Oleh karena itu, mereka bertekad untuk menaruh kepercayaan mereka sepenuhnya kepada-Nya. Mereka tidak akan meminta pengawalan prajurit. Mereka tidak akan memberi orang-orang kafir kesempatan untuk menganggap kekuatan manusia sebagai kemuliaan yang adalah hanya milik Allah. Mereka meyakinkan dalam benak teman-teman kafir mereka mengenai ketulusan ketergantungan mereka kepada Allah sebagai umat-Nya…. Hanya dengan menaati hukum Allah di hadapan mereka, dan berusaha menaatinya, mereka akan dilindungi…. “Jadi berpuasalah kami dan memohonkan hal itu kepada Allah dan Allah mengabulkan permohonan kami.” (Ezra 8:23).” PP 609-616, CC 261.

“… The hand of our God is upon all them for good that seek him; but his power and his wrath is against all them that forsake him.” Ezra 8:22.

“Ezra and his companions had determined to fear and obey God, and to put their trust wholly in him. They would not form a connection with the world in order to secure the help or friendship of the enemies of God. Whether they were with the many or the few, they knew that success could come from God only. And they had no desire that their success should be attributed to the wealth or influence of wicked men. Ezra would run the risk of trusting his cause with God. He well knew that if they failed in their important work, it would be because they had not complied with the requirements of God and therefore he could not help them.” RH January 8, 1884, par. 3.

“Ezra’s faith that God would do a mighty work for His people, led him to tell Artaxerxes of his desire to return to Jerusalem to revive an interest in the study of God’s word and to assist his brethren in restoring the holy city. As Ezra declared his perfect trust in the God of Israel as one abundantly able to protect and care for His people, the king was deeply impressed…. He made him a special representative of the Medo-Persian kingdom, and conferred on him extensive powers for the carrying out of the purposes that were in his heart….” 

“In this matter, Ezra and his companions saw an opportunity to magnify the name of God before the heathen. Faith in the power of the living God would be strengthened if the Israelites themselves should now reveal implicit faith in their divine Leader. They therefore determined to put their trust wholly in Him. They would ask for no guard of soldiers. They would give the heathen no occasion to ascribe to the strength of man the glory that belongs to God alone. They could not afford to arouse in the minds of their heathen friends one doubt as to the sincerity of their dependence on God as His people…. Only by keeping the law of the Lord before them, and striving to obey it, would they be protected…. “So we fasted and besought our God for this: and He was entreated of us.” (Ezra 8:23).” PP 609-616, CC 261.
