MEMPELAJARI SYARAT KESEHATAN YANG DARI ALLAH
“Firman-Nya: ”Jika kamu sungguh-sungguh mendengarkan suara TUHAN, Allahmu, dan melakukan apa yang benar di mata-Nya, dan memasang telingamu kepada perintah-perintah-Nya dan tetap mengikuti segala ketetapan-Nya, maka Aku tidak akan menimpakan kepadamu penyakit mana pun, yang telah Kutimpakan kepada orang Mesir; sebab Aku TUHANlah yang menyembuhkan engkau.” Keluaran 15:26.
“Pelajaran-pelajaran ini ditujukan bagi kita. Ada syarat-syarat yang harus dipatuhi oleh semua orang yang ingin menjaga kesehatan. Semua orang harus mempelajari syarat-syarat ini. Tuhan tidak senang dengan ketidakpedulian tentang hukum-hukum-Nya, baik hukum alam maupun hukum rohani. Kita harus bekerja bersama-sama dengan Allah untuk memulihkan kesehatan tubuh maupun jiwa.” DA 824.4.
“Adalah tugas kita untuk mempelajari hukum-hukum yang mengatur keberadaan kita, dan menyesuaikan diri dengan hukum-hukum tersebut. Ketidakpedulian ataupun kelalaian akan hal-hal ini adalah dosa.” HL 13.1.
“Sejak mulanya, akal budi, yakni pikiran manusia harus menjadi cerdas dalam kaitannya dengan struktur tubuh fisik. Kita boleh melihat dan mengagumi karya Tuhan di dunia alami, tetapi tubuh manusia adalah yang paling menakjubkan.” HL 13.2.
“Kita memiliki tugas-tugas khusus yang dibebankan kepada kita. Kita harus mengenal struktur tubuh fisik kita dan hukum-hukum yang mengendalikan kehidupan alamiah… Pelajaran yang harus dipikir-pikirkan adalah yang menyangkut kehidupan alamiah, yakni pengetahuan tentang diri sendiri…. Rumah tempat diri kita tinggal (yakni tubuh kita ini) lah yang perlu kita pelihara, agar kita dapat menghormati Allah yang telah menebus kita. Kita perlu tahu bagaimana memelihara mesin kehidupan, agar jiwa, tubuh, dan roh kita dapat dibaktikan untuk melayani-Nya. Sebagai makhluk yang berakal, kita masih sangat lalai tentang tubuh dan kebutuhannya. Sementara sekolah-sekolah yang telah kita dirikan telah mempelajari fisiologi, mereka belum menguasainya dengan energi yang seharusnya. Mereka belum mempraktikkan dengan cerdas apa yang telah mereka terima dalam pengetahuan, dan tidak menyadari bahwa jika tidak dipraktikkan, tubuh akan membusuk…. Mesin kehidupan ini harus dipahami. Setiap bagian dari mekanismenya yang menakjubkan harus dipelajari dengan saksama.” HL 13.5.
“Jika orang mau bernalar dari sebab ke akibat, dan mau mengikuti terang yang sedang menyinari mereka, maka mereka akan menempuh jalan yang akan menjamin kesehatan, dan tingkat kematian akan jauh lebih rendah…. Semua orang yang memiliki kesanggupan hidup harus memahami kebutuhan sistem tubuh mereka sendiri.” 2SM 442.4.
“And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee.” Exodus 15:26.
These lessons are for us. There are conditions to be observed by all who would preserve health. All should learn what these conditions are. The Lord is not pleased with ignorance in regard to His laws, either natural or spiritual. We are to be workers together with God for the restoration of health to the body as well as to the soul. DA 824.4.
“It is our duty to study the laws that govern our being, and conform to them. Ignorance in these things is sin.” HL 13.1.
“From the first dawn of reason, the human mind should become intelligent in regard to the physical structure. We may behold and admire the work of God in the natural world, but the human habitation is the most wonderful.” HL 13.2.
“We have special duties resting upon us. We should be acquainted with our physical structure and the laws controlling natural life. While Greek and Latin, which are seldom of any advantage, are made a study by many, physiology and hygiene are barely touched upon. The study to which to give thought is that which concerns natural life, a knowledge of oneself…. It is the house in which we live that we need to preserve, that we may do honor to God who has redeemed us. We need to know how to preserve the living machinery, that our soul, body, and spirit may be consecrated to his service. As rational beings we are deplorably ignorant of the body and its requirements. While the schools we have established have taken up the study of physiology, they have not taken hold with the decided energy they should. They have not practised intelligently that which they have received in knowledge, and do not realize that unless it is practised, the body will decay…. This living machinery should be understood. Every part of its wonderful mechanism should be carefully studied.” HL 13.5.
“If people would reason from cause to effect, and would follow the light which shines upon them, they would pursue a course which would insure health, and the mortality would be far less…. All who possess common capabilities should understand the wants of their own system.” 2SM 442.4.
