PERLUNYA MENDENGAR DAN MELAKUKAN FIRMAN-NYA
“Tetapi setiap orang yang mendengar perkataan-Ku ini dan tidak melakukannya, ia sama dengan orang yang bodoh, yang mendirikan rumahnya di atas pasir. Kemudian turunlah hujan dan datanglah banjir, lalu angin melanda rumah itu, sehingga rubuhlah rumah itu dan hebatlah kerusakannya.” Matius 7:26-27.
“Allah ingin kita membangun dengan aman di atas Batu Karang yang kekal, firman Allah. Kita telah cukup lama menjadi pendengar. Marilah kita sekarang mempraktikkan pelajaran-pelajaran penting dari Kristus. Dia yang hanya menjadi pendengar dan bukan pelaku firman, Kristus bandingkan dengan orang yang membangun rumahnya di atas pasir. Hanya badai godaan yang dibutuhkan untuk menghancurkan mereka, dan fondasi yang mereka anggap aman pun tersapulah. Betapa besar kerugian bagi jiwa-jiwa ini! Mereka sebenarnya dapat memiliki hidup kekal—yakni hidup yang sepadan dengan hidup Allah—seandainya saja mereka mau membangun di atas fondasi yang kokoh.” YI October 22, 1896, par. 5.
“Alasan mengapa orang-orang kita tidak memiliki lebih banyak kuasa adalah karena mereka hanya mengakui kebenaran, tetapi tidak mempraktikkan ataupun menghidupkannya. Mereka hanya memiliki sedikit iman dan kepercayaan kepada Allah…” T30 130.1.
“… orang yang membangun rumahnya di atas pasir, yang tidak memiliki fondasi yang kokoh, tetapi dengan cepat dirusak dan diruntuhkan, dengan tepat menggambarkan orang yang telah mendengar firman Kristus namun mengabaikannya. Maka, maukah kita membiarkan pelajaran ini mengesankan hati kita, dan memengaruhi pembentukan tabiat kita? Maukah kita menjejakkan kaki kita di atas kebenaran Allah—yang adalah fondasi yang pasti, atau akankah kita malah percaya pada doktrin yang salah, yang hanyalah bagai pasir yang mudah tergerus? “And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.” Matthew 7:26-27.
“God wants us to build securely upon the eternal Rock, the word of God. We have been only hearers long enough. Let us now put the important lessons of Christ into practise. He who is a hearer and not a doer of the word, Christ compares to the man who built his house upon the sand. It needs only the storm of temptation to break upon such, and the foundation they supposed so secure is swept away. How great is the loss to these souls! Will we plant our feet upon the truth of God—the sure foundation, or will we trust in erroneous doctrines, which are but sliding sand?
