BERSINAR OLEH KESETIAAN IMAN YANG MULIA
“Raja bercakap-cakap dengan mereka; dan di antara mereka sekalian itu tidak didapati yang setara dengan Daniel, Hananya, Misael dan Azarya; maka bekerjalah mereka itu pada raja. Dalam tiap-tiap hal yang memerlukan kebijaksanaan dan pengertian, yang ditanyakan raja kepada mereka, didapatinya bahwa mereka sepuluh kali lebih cerdas dari pada semua orang berilmu dan semua ahli jampi di seluruh kerajaannya.” Daniel 1:19-20.
“Dari zaman ke zaman, para pahlawan iman telah ditandai oleh kesetiaan mereka kepada Allah; dan mereka telah ditampilkan secara mencolok di hadapan dunia agar terang mereka bersinar bagi mereka yang berada dalam kegelapan. Daniel dan ketiga temannya adalah contoh mulia kepahlawanan Kristen dan pengabdian pada prinsip. Catatan singkat tentang kehidupan keempat orang Ibrani ini telah diwariskan untuk memberi semangat bagi barangsiapa yang dihadapkan pada godaan dan cobaan. Dari pengalaman mereka di istana Babel, kita dapat belajar apa yang akan Allah lakukan bagi barangsiapa yang melayani-Nya dengan sepenuh hati.” YI 29 Oktober 1907, par. 1.
“Terang Surga telah bersinar dari Daniel dan para sahabatnya, sampai semua rekan mereka memahami iman yang memuliakan hidup mereka dan memperindah tabiat mereka. Melalui pembebasan hamba-hamba-Nya yang setia ini, Allah menyatakan bahwa Ia akan berdiri bersama orang-orang yang tertindas dan menumbangkan segala kekuatan duniawi yang hendak menginjak-injak otoritas Allah di surga.” SL 39.3.
“Daniel dan para sahabatnya telah dididik dengan setia dalam prinsip-prinsip firman Allah. Mereka telah belajar untuk mengorbankan hal-hal duniawi demi hal-hal rohani, untuk mencari kebaikan tertinggi. Dan mereka menuai hasilnya. Kebiasaan mereka dalam pengendalian diri dan rasa tanggung jawab mereka sebagai wakil Allah mendorong perkembangan kekuatan tubuh, pikiran, dan jiwa yang paling mulia. …” Ed 55.1.
“Daniel dan para sahabatnya adalah ilustrasi tentang bagaimana seharusnya orang-orang muda zaman sekarang. Dengan sungguh-sungguh dan sepenuh hati, para pemuda ini mau setia pada prinsip dengan segala cara. Selama tahun-tahun awal penawanan, Daniel melewati cobaan yang akan membuatnya terbiasa dengan kemegahan istana, kemunafikan, dan kekafiran. Sungguh sekolah yang aneh untuk mempersiapkannya menjalani kehidupan yang sederhana, rajin, dan setia! Namun ia hidup tanpa tercemari oleh suasana kejahatan ini.” YI 29 Oktober 1907, par. 10.
“Di istana Babel berkumpul perwakilan dari segala penjuru negeri, orang-orang dengan talenta terbaik, orang-orang yang paling kaya akan bakat alami, dan memiliki budaya tertinggi yang dapat diberikan dunia ini; namun di antara mereka semua, tawanan Ibrani tidak ada tandingannya. Dalam kekuatan fisik dan ketampanan, dalam kekuatan mental dan pencapaian intelektual, mereka tiada tertandingi. …” Ed 55.2.
“And the king communed with them; and among them all was found none like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah: therefore stood they before the king. And in all matters of wisdom and understanding, that the king enquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and astrologers that were in all his realm.” Daniel 1:19-20 (KJV).
“From age to age the heroes of faith have been marked by their fidelity to God; and they have been brought conspicuously before the world that their light might shine to those in darkness. Daniel and his three companions are illustrious examples of Christian heroism and devotion to principle. A brief account of the life of these four Hebrews is left on record for the encouragement of those who are brought into temptation and trial. “The light of Heaven had been shining forth from Daniel and his companions, until all their associates understood the faith which ennobled their lives and beautified their characters. By the deliverance of His faithful servants, the Lord declares that He will take His stand with the oppressed and overthrow all earthly powers that would trample upon the authority of the God of heaven.” SL 39.3.
“Daniel and his companions had been faithfully instructed in the principles of the word of God. They had learned to sacrifice the earthly to the spiritual, to seek the highest good. And they reaped the reward. Their habits of temperance and their sense of responsibility as representatives of God called to noblest development the powers of body, mind, and soul…” Ed 55.1.

During the early years of his captivity, Daniel was passing through an ordeal that was to familiarize him with courtly grandeur, with hypocrisy, and with paganism. A strange school indeed to fit him for a life of sobriety, industry, and faithfulness! And yet he lived uncorrupted by this atmosphere of evil.” YI October 29, 1907, par. 10.
“At the court of Babylon were gathered representatives from all lands, men of the choicest talents, men the most richly endowed with natural gifts, and possessed of the highest culture this world could bestow; yet amidst them all, the Hebrew captives were without a peer. In physical strength and beauty, in mental vigor and literary attainment, they stood unrivaled. …” Ed 55.2.***
